Khorae's Mods! (Warning: Nude Doll)

Khorae is finally complete and put together! I've had her home, but was waiting on the pictures Rosslyn took of her before and after so I could have a detailed post for you all! Now, we begin with the modwork. To begin with, we posed her as she was before, posing as best she could. She could not even sit properly. This is as far up as she could sit and would fall backwards at the slightest provocation--or lack thereof. The pic below illustrates how far forward she could sit before the mods. Thew torso joint has no lock and the position is awkward.   Her face had it's own share of issues. The faceup itself was too painted on looking and now Rosslyn felt she could do much better and make the face more natural. Also, Khorae's eyelashes had gotten very crumpled and needed to be replaced. I'd already had her nose filed down, as you can see in the next two pictures. She has a second head now, which is still in the process of getting it's eyes closed, ears pierc...

Jointed Dolls and Mods

If you were wondering how Khorae is doing, as I sit here typing, Rosslyn is sitting and blushing her body. Her face has been partially blushed in but not yet finished. She still needs eyebrows, lashes, and lips filled in more. I am entirely too excited to see her finished. ^__^ We kinda need to finish her while the weather is still dry--which leaves us maybe a couple weeks until nothing more can be done until Spring. I went to Great Western War 2011 . While there I took a class on dolls and, specifically jointed dolls, was able to sculpt (out of sculpy), bake, and string together my own clay doll! The teacher was hilarious and once I can get the full article she found in pdf (have to email her for it), I'll post the link or something here. She's jointed in an interesting way--string runs through her joints, which fit together, not like ball joints, but more like hinges. I need to put beads or something into her eye sockets still, so she can have, ya know, eyes. I haven't ...

Progress on the Modifications

I do not have pictures at this time, but that will hopefully change soon. Khorae's modifications are mostly complete now and her posing ability is amazing, especially compared to what it once was. She can sit up straight without any support--and did so for two days straight! She can even cross her legs and hold that pose as well. Her new sleeping head has had the lips parted further for a more natural sleeping look, and the eyes have been closed with epoxy sculpt. The nose has also been filed down to match her awake head, and the ears pierced. I'll go into more detail when I do finally have photos. Unfortunately, though, she's still blank, so hopefully we can get her blushed and faceupped soon, before the autumn weather changes to something too damp to work with.

I Live! Dollies Live, Too!

I haven't forgotten about my blog, I promise. My classes have begun to kick my butt, so my free time is eaten up by homework and tests and studying. However, I do have good news on the dolly front. Today, Khorae was completely pulled apart at Rosslyn's place and wiped clean. Faceup included. She's about to undergo serious modifications (beyond the nosejob we've already given her). Rosslyn is going to add posing capabilities to Khorae's torso and legs, so that she can properly sit up, and stand. Also, Rosslyn mentioned that she felt she was better and more experienced at faceups now, so Khorae needed a more natural look while still being manicured. Think manicured in the Middle Ages. Also, Khorae will be getting a second head, so she'll have a sleeping face as well as her awake one, and we also have a second pair of hands we hope to boil and then curve the resin into a shape more conducive to holding something. She should be more versatile once she's comple...

Peek-A-Boo in the Yarn Shop

In Scale Necklaces

I made a few necklaces that are up for sale on the DOA forums, so I thought I'd share them. I'm considering better pictures soon. Now, so far these haven't sold as well as I might have hoped, so I ask, what do you think I should do to improve them? Better pictures? Different designs?
