Crafting up a Storm

Last night, I tried to go to bed early-ish (for me). As I did all my prep, I was thinking. I had a few issues coming up. I have a new doll head, an Iplehouse SID Storm. His name is Wes and when he has a face I'll put him up. Oh, the body is here at my place as well, but it belongs to Rosslyn (we did a split), but hopefully she won't mind sharing the body for awhile, until I can afford one of my own. Anyway, I was thinking just before bed--a dangerous past time, I know--that I needed more funds. Not even for dolly stuff, but for life stuff. And then I remembered something, and needless to say, sleep did not come for several hours after that, as I made plans and grew determined.

I have several half finished projects at home that I was working on to sell before the move. So I looked up etsy, and then I considered the doll market online on the Den of Angels forum. What I have is not being offered, but it is being asked for. Oh, not by many, but enough that they might sell. I'm visiting Rosslyn today, so while we craft I hope to have some small Yo-SD and MSD cloaks finished, more perfume bottles made, and the medieval dresses I made for Khorae finished. The dresses need closures and the nicer one needs trim. The trim can wait though.

I'm hoping to try some new batteries in my camera and see if the apple juice mishap really did destroy the camera or just the old batteries. I realized that I cannot sell things I have no pictures of. Hopefully Rosslyn's troll doll Stella will be willing to pose in a few of these cloaks. If the camera still won't work, then Rosslyn will hopefully be generous and allow me to take the pics with hers and put them on my USB. We can hope. More pics from before will soon be up! Just selecting which doll and which pics to post.

EDIT: Well, that didn't go quite as planned. I did finish the cloaks, but the dresses and cloaks need their closures still, and I did not make any of the perfume bottles. Foo. Soon, crafty items, sooooon.

The Cloaks Are Finished!

The cloaks I mentioned in the previous post are completely finished and posted on the DoA forums. I loved the pics taken. They make me wish I had a Fairyland Littlefee at home to wear them. So cute! Here are Rosslyn's dolls Stella and Scythe modeling the various cloaks: Overall, I'm very pleased with how they came out! If you would like to purchase one, go here . I Live! Dollies Live, Too!

I haven't forgotten about my blog, I promise. My classes have begun to kick my butt, so my free time is eaten up by homework and tests and studying. However, I do have good news on the dolly front. Today, Khorae was completely pulled apart at Rosslyn's place and wiped clean. Faceup included. She's about to undergo serious modifications (beyond the nosejob we've already given her). Rosslyn is going to add posing capabilities to Khorae's torso and legs, so that she can properly sit up, and stand. Also, Rosslyn mentioned that she felt she was better and more experienced at faceups now, so Khorae needed a more natural look while still being manicured. Think manicured in the Middle Ages. Also, Khorae will be getting a second head, so she'll have a sleeping face as well as her awake one, and we also have a second pair of hands we hope to boil and then curve the resin into a shape more conducive to holding something. She should be more versatile once she's comple...

Progress on the Modifications

I do not have pictures at this time, but that will hopefully change soon. Khorae's modifications are mostly complete now and her posing ability is amazing, especially compared to what it once was. She can sit up straight without any support--and did so for two days straight! She can even cross her legs and hold that pose as well. Her new sleeping head has had the lips parted further for a more natural sleeping look, and the eyes have been closed with epoxy sculpt. The nose has also been filed down to match her awake head, and the ears pierced. I'll go into more detail when I do finally have photos. Unfortunately, though, she's still blank, so hopefully we can get her blushed and faceupped soon, before the autumn weather changes to something too damp to work with.
