Adara's Dollies

I developed a pattern for this MSD-size doll dress a bit ago, but I needed the yarn I'd originally used for another project, so I set to knitting a new dress for Lan to keep. I really love how fitted it is and how it hugs her curves. The pattern has the cables both front and back. I think I will be offering this pattern for sale in some fashion in the future.

We got a sneak peek at the sweater for Rania and now comes the full reveal! The explanation and all is on my craft blog, but here are the shots!

Rania decided she wanted to help with the sweater I was knitting for her, so I sat her down and began to teach her how to knit. Rania: This is a bit awkward. Don't people usually hold the yarn in the right hand? Me: Yes, well, I hold it different. Rania: Like this? Me: You're getting it! Don't forget to pull tight to match the gauge I was doing. Rania: Do you really think I'm going to remember to do that? Me: Umm...yes? Rania: Wishful thinking. Me: Heyyyy... Rania: This is the sleeve, right? Me: Yep, the first one. We've got a ways to go.

So I've been reworking items in my selling inventory, revamping and strengthening my stock so it will appeal. I am intending to open an Etsy shop sometime, perhaps a joint one with Rosslyn. I knitted some tiny little shrugs as an experiment and they are freaking adorable! Briar decided to model one of them and may or may not choose to keep it. I'm working on getting consistent with the stitches and choosing from a large variety of yarns. Rosslyn's pukipukis also have a shrug just like the green one, and I made a scarf for one of her dolls as well. Until recently, I haven't been doing much in the way of crafting for the dolls, or even regular maintenance of them. Life just got busy (getting married does that).

I have not been lazy. Here is the completed rose bliaut I made for Khorae with my own hands. It will have a green vest and trim to complete the look, but those are different projects! So pretty! And this... Became this. It's actually a teensy bit too small for her, but it would fit a Yo-SD, like Rosslyn's troll Stella, perfectly.

I made a few necklaces that are up for sale on the DOA forums, so I thought I'd share them. I'm considering better pictures soon. Now, so far these haven't sold as well as I might have hoped, so I ask, what do you think I should do to improve them? Better pictures? Different designs?

I have a fascination with hats. I can only wear certain kinds--my head shape is all wrong for many. However, through my dolls I can make and wear any kind I want. So far I have only created ladies' top hats in a Victorian or steampunk style. I'll start with my first which is on sale on the DOA forums. I called it the Ianthe . I love this pose. Very Michael Jackson. The second hat I made was much simpler. I took some hot pink tulle and painted it black, then went with a steampunk vibe with the gears near the back as embellishments.  The third and final hat I made was for a steampunk swap on the boards. It's my favorite in a lot of ways, but it was given to my partner in the swap. I did manage to get these pictures of it before I shipped it.

Proof! This is the medieval period gown I made for Khorae. It's made with dark green linen and looks very nice on her. I had taken more photos of it, but they turned out fuzzy or repetitive, so I axed them. Face shot, because I felt like it. :D Annnd here is the whole dress! I used period rectangular construction and made some adjustments to fit on a non-squishy body. Rosslyn made the belt. And now for some fun! We dragged Donovan out for some photos. Now that Rosslyn and I no longer share a living space, the husband and wife pair don't see each other very often. Here you go! This last one is my favorite. They look so very content to me.
