Cherry's Box Opening

When Cherry arrived, I had no clothes and no wig for her, so it was in borrowing from Rosslyn that I managed to at least not have her naked that first night. Briar never had a proper box opening, so don't expect her pics, heh.  Here we have...the Box! It arrived in the mail and Rosslyn was kind enough to wait until I get back from work that evening to open it, as it also contained her Realpuki Tyni.  Wee little shoes!  The Tyni silver wrapper around the red book box.  The ever popular red storybook cases of the Fairyland dolls. These are the same ones that the Pukipukis come in. I don't think Fairyland has gotten around to making the Realpukis their own, as they can fit in these without breaking in transit.  However, their long ears mean they cannot be shipped with a whole head. Lol!  Aren't they adorable?? The Tyni, Rosslyn's Apple, is standing on the table, the Soso, my dear Cherry, is being supported by me above. And her pretty borrowed dress! I need t

Khorae's Beginning

These are a few of the first shots I got of my Khorae. Her faceup has changed quite a bit since then, but these were awesome photos. I love the sundrenched photos the best.

Briar's Evolution Pics

Briar was the only doll I ever attempted a faceup on. She came to me blank and I was excited. I neglected one fact. I'd never worked in 3D media before. Never. I gave her perhaps four faceups (and multiple attempts for each one) before I got too frustrated with it all. She has a serious face, and a very serious pout, so she was quickly quoting Shakespeare as Rosslyn's Nikos was getting his faun legs. She hated that fluff ball dandelion wig and pink dress, but for awhile, all I had for her was borrowed clothes and wigs. Soon, she borrowed a different wig and it was better. I was making something for Khorae and when I turned around, Briar decided to have an elf-and-the-cobbler moment and do my sewing. So cute! I liked the red wig, but it wasn't her. The bangs were right, but that was all. Finally, we (Rosslyn, me, Briar, and Rosslyn's Pip) went shopping for something to make a wig out of. Pip: Wheee! We's goin' on a car ried to da fabrik storr! Briar: I's

Added Some Things

While I do not currently have another real post, I added pages, one for each of my dolls, onto the sidebar. Go ahead and check them out for basic info on each doll. I'm hoping for some better portrait shots someday for the tinies, but they are patient with my lack of camera skills. Most of the time. You may notice that each doll has some connections to Rosslyn's dolls. This cannot be helped; Rosslyn and her dollies were too instrumental in my gaining my dolls and working out characters. Khorae had a set character who already had ties with Rosslyn's. Briar and Cherry didn't, as I hadn't anticipated their arrivals or tried to come up with specific characters ahead of time. They grew into their own unique selves. The only thing all three seem to have in common in generally being a pain to me in order to get my attention. Heh.

My First Doll's Box Opening (warning: some minor doll nudity)

It's only fair to introduce my dolls in the order they arrived, so here we go! Khorae, my Iplehouse YID Silvia, arrived in August of 2009. She's a long time character of mine, and as such, she has a canon pairing with one of Rosslyn's characters, shelled in an Iplehouse EID Akando, named Donovan. Me: Hey, Don, ready to open your mail order bride? Donovan: She isna my "mail order bride". *air quotes* Me: Oh really. Where is she from? Donovan: ...South Korea... >.> Me: Did we pay money for her? Donovan: Aye... >.< Me: Did she come in the mail? Donovan: Aye! Me: She's a mail order bride! Donovan: NO she ISNA! Me: Oh neat, she comes in her own bag! Donovan: Et's a...bubblewrap mummy. Khorae: Mmfmfm! Me: There we go, all unwrapped! Khorae: I need a wig, and clothes! Donovan: She...doesna need the clothes... Me: There we go, a wrap and a temp wig to go with the temp eyes... Donovan: Machree...you're so beautiful... Khorae: You

All Things Have a Beginning

I suppose no BJD blog would be complete without some explanation as to how in the world I got into the hobby in the first place. So, I will take this time now to place the blame squarely on the head of my best friend, Rosslyn. It's all her fault. I'd never heard of BJDs until she stumbled upon them in the beginning of 2009. I was content with my hobbies then: drawing, roleplaying, writing, crochet, etc. She was customizing the 27cm Obitsus  and through them she discovered proper resin-cast BJDs. She fell head over heels in love with them and, as we were roommates at the time, I got a daily ear-full about them. Now, I dutifully looked at the links she sent me, admired the pretty dolls, but upon looking at the price tags, I decided not to really think about them. I could barely afford my bills and I had debt wracked up. No luxury items for me. In retrospect, I seriously underestimated the craftiness, sneakiness, and generosity of my roommate and her cousin. I did continue to lo
