Meet Rania

Here is my lovely new doll after getting her the way I wanted her.

"Why, Adara, she is not nearly as pale as she was in the box opening photos! What happened??"

I'd always envisioned Rania as Indian, possibly Hindu (working on her background). A pale, white skinned doll would not do. I asked Rosslyn for help, as I simply knew the Souldoll Soulkid Amy doll had the right face for what I wanted, if someone could just help me get the rest of the way.

Rosslyn obliged. We both sanded the doll down and prepared her for the dyeing process. Rosslyn took the opportunity to sand the nose down into a more aquiline shape for Rania's ethnicity. Then, she trial-and-error-ed her way through the dyeing process to get the right color (this really did take an awful long time, but the results are worth it). Finally, Rosslyn was triumphant and Rania looked almost herself.

The next two days, Rosslyn worked hard to give Rania her faceup and body blushing. She is so beautiful and I have the bestest best friend in the world. (Who can be plied with knitted items for her dolls in exchange for making my dolls look perfect.)

Progress on the Modifications

I do not have pictures at this time, but that will hopefully change soon. Khorae's modifications are mostly complete now and her posing ability is amazing, especially compared to what it once was. She can sit up straight without any support--and did so for two days straight! She can even cross her legs and hold that pose as well. Her new sleeping head has had the lips parted further for a more natural sleeping look, and the eyes have been closed with epoxy sculpt. The nose has also been filed down to match her awake head, and the ears pierced. I'll go into more detail when I do finally have photos. Unfortunately, though, she's still blank, so hopefully we can get her blushed and faceupped soon, before the autumn weather changes to something too damp to work with.

Knit MSD Dress

I developed a pattern for this MSD-size doll dress a bit ago, but I needed the yarn I'd originally used for another project, so I set to knitting a new dress for Lan to keep. I really love how fitted it is and how it hugs her curves. The pattern has the cables both front and back. I think I will be offering this pattern for sale in some fashion in the future.

Halloween Pictures!

Cherry, Lan, and Briar decided they wanted to join in on the Halloween fun, so enjoy their costumes and little sets! Cherry went very Disney with her Frozen-inspired dress and a tiny pumpkin from our garden. Lan is a little witch and every witch needs a familiar. Briar wanted to enjoy some sumptuous Middle Eastern furniture and costume!
